What a crew gets here in the morning

We open at 7am Monday through Saturday. Drive in, tell the counter the material and the yards, and a loader fills your truck or trailer. Weekdays we load until 4pm, Saturday until noon, and we are closed Sunday.

There is no minimum order. If a job needs half a cubic yard of mulch to finish a bed, we will load half a yard. If it needs twenty, we will load twenty.

Customers buy and load at the retail yard. If you are running a tandem or an eighteen-wheeler, roughly ten yards and up, the order is rung up at the retail yard and the truck is sent back to the production yard to load, so the material is only handled once.

Mulch, soil, compost, sand and stone on one yard

Aged Native Mulch, Black Mulch and Red Mulch are ground and aged here. Garden Mix, Lawn Mix and Tree & Shrub Mix are blended here, and Screened Sandy Loam Topsoil is dug and screened on the property. Casco Compost is made here. Screened Bank Sand comes out of our own pits on this property.

Black Star Gravel and decomposed granite are stocked rather than made here, and they sell in one to four yard loads sized to the truck or trailer. We carry them so a crew picking up mulch and soil does not add a second stop for stone. Cedar Mulch is bought in finished from Central Texas.

Deliveries

Delivery to the job site

Deliveries run on the family company's own trucks, across the Houston area, with no minimum order. Past about 20 miles from the yard the delivery cost usually outweighs the cost of the material.

A split load puts two materials on one truck, three to four cubic yards of each, so a job that needs mulch and a soil blend does not pay for two trips. Weight, not volume, is what sets the limit, and Lawn Mix is the heaviest blend we make. What to have ready for the driver is on the delivery page.
