The yard

Two yards
One property, two yards
There are two yards here. The retail yard is where customers buy and load: drive in, tell the counter the material and the yards, and a loader fills your truck or trailer. The production yard is where the grinding, composting, blending and screening happen, and where the sand is dug.
Large trucks load at the production yard. A tandem or an eighteen-wheeler, roughly ten yards and up, is rung up at the retail yard and then sent back to the production yard, so the material is only handled once.
Hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm, Saturday 7am to 12pm, closed Sunday.
Equipment
What is on the yard
Three trommels, which are rotating drum screens with sized holes. Doppstadt shredders and grinders. Two front-end loaders, a dozer, a machine for construction and demolition waste, and an 8,000-gallon water truck.
The trommels set the finish size. Casco Compost and the soil blends finish at half-inch minus, and anything larger goes to the overs pile. Aged Native Mulch is screened through a trommel, run through the grinder twice more, and finished through a 1.5 inch screen. Screened Bank Sand goes through a trommel so the clay chunks come out.
Aging piles are watered with sprinklers through dry stretches, and the water truck keeps the dust down on the yard roads.

The retail yard. That is where orders are rung up and where trucks and trailers are loaded. If you bring a tandem or an eighteen-wheeler, the counter will send you back to the production yard to load.
Yes. Come to the yard, look at a pile, grab a handful, smell it. Finished material smells like earth.
